Du Fu: Family Reunion in Qiang Village (from Chinese 羌村)

杜甫

崝嶸赤雲西，日腳下平地。
柴門鳥雀噪，歸客千里至。
妻孥怪我在，驚定還拭淚。
世亂遭飄蕩，生還偶然遂。
鄰人滿牆頭，感歎亦歔欷。
夜闌更秉燭，相對如夢寐。

West beyond craggy burning clouds,
Off the land had set the sun.
Birds around the brushwood door twittered about
The man back through a thousand toil miles.
Wife and children shocked by my survival,
Were taken still before they wiped tears.
Swirled in this war chaos world
Return alive was against bold odds.
Above wall were full of neighbours,
Who couldn't help sigh and sob.
We stood a candle deep into the night,
Facing each other as in a dream.

中國鄉村的牆多是泥夯築而成、通常也不高，所以看別人院裏是不用爬上牆頭的，駐足即可。杜甫家的牆可能就是這種，所有「鄰人滿牆頭」，說不上很失禮。
